This course is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to organise, manage and deliver a Cardiac Rehabilitation program within a Hospital &Community setting. The course is based on the WHO guidelines for Cardiac Rehabilitation, which promotes evidence-based practice of medicine for individuals who have had a cardiac event or stand a high risk for Heart disease; this forms a firm foundation for both primary and secondary prevention of Cardiac diseases. This new field offers professionals a new approach and a career.

Scope of the Course

  • Participants will be able to understand the disease process and the implications.
  • They have the opportunity of a learning experience from an experienced team who are involved directly in both hospital and community based Cardiac rehabilitation.
  • Able to understand the implications of coronary heart disease and exercise promotion.
  • Able to understand personal counselling as well as group counselling.
  • Will be able to understand secondary preventive care to provide an effective cardiac rehabilitation programme for patients from diverse range cardiac problems.
  • Negotiate and communicate with medical professionals regarding cardiac patients to ensure a quality cardiac rehabilitation plan.
  • Will be able to develop this concept in any hospital.

  • Is based on guidelines provided by ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Basic cardiology (Heart and Circulatory system, Coronary Artery Disease, Heart failure, Valvular Heart diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Surgical procedures)

  • MBBS Graduates & General Practitioners (other Medical specialities)
  • Physiotherapists / Physiotherapy Interns, Graduates in Life sciences.
  • Interns, Psychologists, Nutritionists & Nursing graduates.
