It is expected that by 2020 more than 40% of Indian population
would be aged (above 45), Heart disease, Diabetes, uncontrolled
Hypertension and age related degenerative disease are increasing
at a faster pace although mortality is reduced due to longevity
of life but morbidity and disability are on the rise. As such
Indians face slightly higher risk for Heart disease & Diabetes
due to genetic predisposition, high triglycerides, cholesterol
& low HDL. Advancing age is also associated with insufficient
Nutrition, Psychological factors, social factors and poor fitness.
This population needs comprehensive care by health care professionals
with a human touch and sound understanding. This course is designed
to provide optimum skills and in-depth knowledge in handling Geriatric
population.
